Pastor Ricky D. Moreland Jr. was called to preach in 1993 while attending Saint Stephens Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Robert Walker, located in Austin Texas. He went on to study electrical engineering from The Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View Texas.

Pastor Moreland’s career as an electrical engineer took him abroad while based in Tucson Arizona. Pastor Moreland was not only able to obtain a master’s degree in computer information systems, but the Lord allowed him to spread the word of God as close as various cities in the U.S. and as far away as Jordan. Under the leadership of D. Grady Scott, Pastor of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, whereas associate minister he continually received ministerial and pastoral training until the Lord moved him to Texas. Once in Texas, he reunited with Saint Stephens and began teaching Bible studies and preaching throughout Austin and surrounding cities.  The Lord blessed Pastor Moreland’s bible study ministry quickly where it went from 2 to 4 in attendance to over 65 attendees within two weeks! With his “train the trainer” philosophy, Pastor Moreland began to equip his fellow associates with his style of teaching in hopes that once God moved him the study will continue.

Sensing God ready to move him, Pastor took one of the best jewels Saint Stephens had, his wife Letesia Moreland and moved their family of three girls (Kiara Washington, Montinique Yates, and Nala Moreland) to Huntsville Alabama. Once in Huntsville, he attended Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Wayne P. Snodgrass. It is under Pastor Snodgrass where he was urged to obtain a master’s degree in ministry and pastoral leadership from Huntsville Bible College. It is after obtaining this master’s degree Pastor Moreland and Springhill Church were brought together through the amazing Holy Spirit.
